Awards Evening 2016
We had a good evening last night, and a useful AGM. We reviewed the season, decided a few things and handed out many awards...
We played 11 games, won 6, lost 5 and there were 2 pairs matches. 5 games were rained off. We had 29 players (42 last year!). Many thanks go to Zach (Fixtures), Terry (Treasurer), and Tom (Organiser and nets co-ordinator), and to Tom, Christian, Benn, Steve, and Zach for captaining the side at various times.
Terry has produced excellent accounts that show that, on a turnover of about £1,125, we made a surplus (£105) that will help pay for match balls next season. Terry pointed out that the cost per player per game was just over £6, so emphasising the usefulness of the fines system as match fees were set at £5. He thanked everyone for paying up promptly, and we agreed to keep things the same next year.
Zach agreed to organise the fixtures again with the same mix of Chiswick and Regents Park games. He'll try to get the "minor counties" grass wicket at Regents Park as its much better than the others, but we'll use the artificial pitches there otherwise. Tom will try to book some indoor nets at the Oval on Champions League nights.
The main awards were:
Mallard: Josh*
Pie Chucker: Dan*
Champagne Moment: NJ hitting 2 fours, getting hit on the leg, and only then realising he was batting without any pads on!
All-Rounder of the Year: Benn
Fielder of the Year: NJ (5 catches)
Bowler of the Year: Christian
Batsman of the Year: Steve
Player of the Year: NJ
* the special cricket shirts are to be worn by them in every match they play next year, or they'll incur a fine!
Many thanks to all who played for all your help on and off the field. Keep well and fit during the next few months, and see you at nets during the winter or at the crease in May 2017!
